PANEL 1A: ENVIRONMENTAL ECONOMICS

Economists have been addressing environmental issues since Adam Smith founded the social science in 1776. Beginning in the 1960s, economists have questioned the simplistic assumption that only governments can manage resources held in common and “public” goods.

This panel will explore, among other things, how market-created wealth is necessary to protect wildlife and resources for future generations.
